The Handmade Movement-Home of the Sneak Attack

April 17, 2009

I just found this new website. http://www.handmademovement.com/

It is so fun. Please check it out. If you are looking for a great gift for someone special (especially for yourself) look here first. Its a terrific way to get a great unique handmade gift and make someone’s day at the same time.

What is a Sneak Attack you ask…here is the explanation on the website:

It’s a way to support independant artisans who are trying to sell their wares online. Three days a week at an appointed time, an Etsy* shop with few or no sales is announced on this site. As many people as possible then buy items from that shop, resulting in a frenzy of surprise business to the unsuspecting shop! (*Etsy is an online marketplace where individuals can set up shops to sell their goods) Want to join in? I bet you do!

I just participated in a sneak attack at the Etsy for Charity shop. Look what I got:

Big Purple Hoop Earrings - by Scorpienna

How cute are these? And 100 percent goes to Charity! Yippee!

Can’t wait til they arrive!

Mosaic Vintage Picnic Basket

March 19, 2009

Here a new listing in The Puddle People Etsy shop

One-of-a-kind Mosaic Vintage Picnic Basket

picnic-basket-1

It began with a full size vintage picnic basket that had seen many a picnic.

The mosaic was designed and created in The Puddle People Studio. We love giving new life to items others would be compelled to discard!

The wicker make up of this basket is sound although it does show some discoloration that is visible in picture 1. We think this is just part of it’s character and history showing!

In order to preserve the mosaic, the top of the basket had to be sealed shut so this is a decorative piece only but it would look great on a porch, or in an entryway or sitting by your fireplace.

Mosaic design includes pieces of vintage dinnerware, art glass and flat sided glass marbles.

Custom made Glass Tile project

March 15, 2009

The Puddle People Design Studio was fortunate enough to be asked to design and produce the fused glass tiles for this project. The homeowners thrive in the natural colors of autumn. After all they live here in the Beautiful Berkshires!

Their home is filled with wonderful color so they were looking to continue that theme abstractively through the tiles to compliment their new stove. The result is a warm, cozy place to relax and enjoy!
